Powder Photoshoot - what to wear
One of the first questions I'm always asked when clients book powder sessions is what their children should wear. My answer varies, depending on a few things:
I mean, it goes without saying that if your child is a football player, their uniform would be a good place to start, right? But, helmet or no helmet? Gloves or no gloves? Pads or no pads? There are countless options, right? And then there is the question of - away or home uniform?! Same thing with baseball, soccer, softball, volleyball, gymnastics, dance....you get the point.
I think it all boils down to what you ultimately want the photos to look like. Does your ball player want to look as fierce as they can? Do they want eye black on? I personally like it when all the gear is on. The pads, the helmet, the leo, the knee pads, and the elegant costumes. Dress the part, and the photos will look more authentic.
I always suggest (for full sessions) that people bring all the things that they would like. Bring different costumes, bring the other jersey, bring the uniform for the other team that you play on, bring the pads and the mouth guard, etc. Variety is great, and we have a restroom to change in, so why stick with the same outfits when you can get different ones!?
Ultimately, what I would love is for you to LOVE the final product enough to display it on your walls at home. If there are any questions at all, just let me know.

WHERE ARE POWDER PHOTOS DONE?
Here is an interesting fact about powder dance photos. They are MESSY! So, we tend to take them outside for easier clean-up. Unless a dance studio or another "school" would like to set up a fundraiser and has the space indoors, they are done outside. So, for the powder sports photos that are done in NJ, that means that we can only really do them when the weather is nice and the ground isn't wet.

Dancers have the option of dancing on a hard surface or an airtrack. Whatever makes it easier is fine with us. You can

I can't believe that I get to live my dream every day! It is just so surreal that I am able to say that I am a professional photographer in Bergen County, NJ! Ever since I was young and got my first Polaroid camera, I have loved taking photos. When I think, I think in pictures, so freezing the moments that I see is spectacular to me. I absolutely love capturing moments so that they can be experienced over and over. And now that I am a mom, I am hyperaware that all of the moments of childhood are warp-speed fast. I feel so blessed to be able to freeze time for my clients with the gorgeous background of Bergen County, NJ!
Bergen County, nj fall photos
Fall in Northern NJ is so beautiful! The falling leaves and the crisp cool air feels so welcoming after the hot summer. Whenever I think of the fall, I think cozy sweaters, setting fires in the fireplace, watching football and snuggling with my family. I also think about the leaves crunching underfoot as we walk, the smell of the fire pits around the neighborhood, and being able to get outside and play with the kiddos.
When I capture photos of families during the fall, the feeling that I try to encapsulate in the photos is that of the cozy fall "warmth" of a favorite sweater and a mom's hug. I try to help gently guide the poses that will exude love and connection between family members in every photo.
